Write to Ignite

Welcome to the ALL new Mamas Ignited Blog – Write to Ignite. For those of you who have read my latest book, ‘Mamas Ignited: Stop Ironing, Start Living’ will know that my true passion is writing. In fact there is a whole chapter called ‘Ignite’ which is all about how over the years writing has been my therapy, my sanity and my joy.

Writing is now a big part of my job. As well as writing and publishing books, I write copy daily for emails and social media posts and I love that I can call myself an author and freelance writer. I proofread for Authors and Co and write professional media bios and press releases for Chocolate PR to help other women to share their stories in the media. Getting paid to write and feedback from clients saying, ‘You are so talented’ and seeing your articles make the press is just everything.

The Louisa aged fourteen, who used to write for the school Grapevine magazine would be so proud that Louisa aged forty-two is doing what she bloody well loves!

As a new mum to Emilie back in 2015 I started a blog called, ‘The Little Book of Sick’ which chronicled the highs and lows of living with a Reflux baby! For two years i absolutely loved being in the ‘mummy-blogger’ world but for a variety of reasons struggled with the idea of being fully visible and growing an audience. I knew that my writing resonated with people (as they told me) but back then I had a real feeling of ‘who am I?’ I really couldn’t believe that people would care what I had to say and although my blog had loads of potential and it was the creative outlet that I needed.

My blog could have been successful, I could have written a book but I wasn’t in the right personal space to do so. One of the big reasons why I stopped writing was fear of writing the truth. I was surviving in an emotionally abusive relationship. I had sent off an article to The Glasshouse Girls, an online women’s magazine. It was published, but not under my name and I didn’t dare share it with anyone. My anger, hurt and deep unhappiness shone like beacon of desperation, but it was only shared with strangers. They even had to tone down one of my expressions of wanting to, ‘Stab him in the eye’ as it was too violent. Nobody picked up the red flags, nobody saw my cry for help. I was terrified that someone would actually read it and not long after that, I stopped writing.

I started tentatively to blog again during the lockdown of 2020 but then after finally putting AUTHOR on my vision board, I set towards achieving that goal. Just 6 months later, I did just that – I published my first book as a co-author in a collaborative book. Seeing my story ‘Learning to Bloom’ in print in ‘Pride’ and holding that book for the first time was a moment I will never forget!

So now 18 months later I have published two more books! (Check out the links to buy on my website) I published the microbook ‘Time to Ignite’ in April 2021 and my latest book ‘Mamas Ignited: Stop Ironing, Start Living’ hit 7 Amazon Numbers ones! So yes – that vision board worked. I have ticked off Best- selling Author!

So here I am. Back on the blog. You can expect a weekly blog in which I will be exploring a wealth of topics. As a mindset and positive psychology coach I will be sharing tools, science and interventions from my SPARKS Mindset for Success system and tips to create IMPACT in your business.

Stay tuned! On we bloody well SURF!
